Laos and Vietnam

Hano

"Good morning Vietnam", as the four of us greeted each day. Yes we spent a month traveling with a backpack, a sense of adventure and maleria pills.  We trained Asian elephants, climbed to see caves with thousands of buddhas, jumped into waterfalls, took cooking classes and now can make a superb spring roll.  We strolled into a half dozen Wats ( Buddhist temples), rode in tuk tuks, lit lanterns in Hoi An, talked to monks, slept on a junk, tried our hand at night squid fishing, ate rambutans, climbed to the top of marble mountain, washed our elephant in the river, bought knock-off beat headphones, had tailored clothes made, almost married the waiter, survived a case of giardia and enjoyed every moment with my children. An exotic holiday we will never forget.

Summer time and the living is easy

Isn’t that how the song goes?  Visiting the beach town of Cayucos, four hours south of San Francisco.
D and D invited us to join them at their beach house.  Lazy days teaching Matisse how to bogie board, long walks with the dog and endless evenings of playing charades. Time stands still, time is measured by the meals we all cook together, I have no sense of time.  Max finds 338 sand dollars on the beach.  Hearst Castle is amazing, and we have our first Americana 4th of July parade.  I Love being an immigrant in America.
